In the past ...
After a collegiate career that included a B.A. in English with a minor in history -- along with hours honing writing skills with the college newspaper and spinning disks with the college radio station at Allegheny College, Meadville, PA -- Bill's work career chiefly included advertising, public relations and related positions in corporations and advertising agencies in Meadville, Pittsburgh and central North Carolina (Greensboro - Winston-Salem - High Point). At various times, he also ran his own business as a freelance copywriter, PR and business-film script writer.
In 2004, he left five-plus years as marketing (including advertising and PR) manager at tourism attraction Old Salem Museum & Gardens to return to full-time freelance writing while pursuing his own writing projects in fiction.
2006
As his involvement with the world of live theater became ever deeper -- his wife was a drama major who acts and stage manages now, and his son is actively involved as a professor and a lighting designer -- Bill wrote his first full-length play in 2006. Though he is now semi-retired from other non-fiction writing work, which included writing about live theater in Forsyth County, NC for the Winston-Salem Journal newspaper from 2016 to May 2022, he is actively involved in writing and promoting short and full-length plays along with occasional fiction in short stories and novels.
Now
In addition to volunteer writing and research work with local community theaters, Bill continues to administer upcoming 10-minute and full-length play productions while working on new and revised projects.
